Should City fail to claim a victory tonight, Liverpool will be crowned Premier League champions.
Our hearts will be at Stamford Bridge this evening but our bodies and voices, sadly, will not. No boys and girls will walk out with the teams, and our favourite lions Stamford and Bridget will also be absent.
Supporters are reminded that despite the future softening of the lockdown, the stadium will be shut to everyone except essential staff, media, players, coaches and officials. Please don’t congregating in areas around the ground.
Chelsea: The Blues only have a two-point lead over Manchester United and need to rebuild that cushion. A draw here would probably suffice. A tricky schedule the rest of the way for Frank Lampard’s team means they need some consistency at home to finish top four, and what better way to do that than by taking down one of the top teams in the league. Expect Christian Pulisic to start in this one after getting a goal off the bench in last weekend’s win over Aston Villa.
The Blues came from behind to beat Aston Villa on Sunday while City have been wonderful in their wins over Arsenal and Burnley.
City are set for a second placed finish this season but Chelsea still have work to do to secure a Champions League spot for next term.
Man City: Anything but a win here guarantees the Premier League title goes to Liverpool. With the Reds visiting the Etihad next week, City will do what it can over the next two games to at least delay that celebration a bit. In order to do that, the squad will have to get something from Gabriel Jesus with Sergio Aguero set to miss time due to his knee injury. Expect Gabriel to have a couple good looks on goal in this one with Chelsea’s defense struggling at times.
