YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has found his way back into the ring, this time to fight former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley.

Paul previously defeated fellow YouTube personality AnEsonGib, former NBA star Nate Robinson and former MMA fighter Ben Askren.
The pay-per-view event, which includes five fights, is scheduled to start Sunday, August 29 at 8 p.m. ET at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio.
The 8-round cruiserweight bout will be available on Showtime, with general tickets available for $59.99.
Before turning toward a boxing career, Paul had been widely known on social media as a brash and controversial YouTube star, where he has more than 20 million subscribers.

The fight is expected to be the biggest challenge of Paul’s career after he picked up wins over a fellow social media influencer, a former NBA star and one of Woodley’s friends, former UFC fighter Ben Askren. While Paul made light work of Askren, Woodley is a far more dangerous striker who picked up some highlight-reel knockouts in his accomplished UFC career.

Woodley stopped Robbie Lawler with authority in 2016 to claim the 170-pound title before making four straight defenses of the belt against tough competition. But it was the rough end to his run with the promotion that led to this opportunity. Woodley lost his final four bouts in UFC, looking extremely passive in three before going for broke in his final appearance in March and getting stopped in the first round. Now, at 39, Woodley looks to begin anew with the chance to shock many in the process.

“In 4 days I fight for more than what’s at the surface level,” Paul said in an Instagram post Wednesday. “I fight for my family, my friends, my coaches, my city, my dog, for shadow, for history, a greater purpose, and for respect. Sunday August 29th the world will see what I’m made of.”

Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza told MMA Fighting on Aug. 2 that the fight will cost viewers $59.99. Not cheap.

“That reflects a couple of things,” Espinoza said of the price. “It’s in the ballpark of where similar fights have been. It is at a point below a lot of other higher priced PPVs, but in particular on this one, I think you’ve got a full boxing card of exciting young fighters. That was the key.”
